What happens if my Annual ticket won't work in the machines?

Rail Only, Rail/Luas, Rail/Dublin Bus/Luas and Rail/Dublin Bus(with photo on ticket) tickets can be replaced at the Iarnród Éireann offices at Connolly station, corner of Amiens street and Sheriff street, Dublin 1.

Office Hours: 8.30 - 5pm, through lunch.

Dublin Bus Only, Dublin Bus/Luas, Rail/Dublin Bus(with seperate ID photo) tickets can be replaced at the Dublin Bus offices, 59 Upper O'Connell street, Dublin 1

Office Hours: 9 - 5pm, through lunch.

Bus Éireann Only can be replaced at the Bus Éireann Regional Manager's office, Busáras, Store Street, Dublin 1

Office Hours: 9 - 5pm, Closed lunch 1 - 2pm.

What kind of savings can I expect on my commuter expenses?

What happens if my ticket is lost or stolen?

Monthly tickets are not replaced. Annual tickets are replaced at a cost of €10.00 for each month left to be used. Bus Éireann and Irish Rail Point-to-Point tickets cost from €10.00 to €20.00 a month to replace. Terms and conditions apply to replacing annual tickets.

Can I buy a monthly or annual ticket and then claim the tax back from the Revenue Commissioners?

No, all TaxSaver monthly and annual tickets must be purchased by the company on behalf of the employee as per Revenue guidelines.

Are TaxSaver Commuter Tickets transferable?

No, TaxSaver Tickets cannot be transferred to another person, as they can only be used by the individual who received the tax benefit.

What happens if an employee leaves or is dismissed from their position while the TaxSaver Commuter Ticket is still valid?

It depends on the arrangement reached with the employer - an employee may keep the ticket or may be required to return it.

Are there any fixed dates on which tickets are valid?

Monthly tickets are valid for one calendar month, while annual tickets are valid for one year commencing from the first day of any month.

Is sacrificing salary the only way for an employee to get a TaxSaver Commuter Ticket?

No. The ticket can also be provided in lieu of a cash bonus, for example as a Christmas bonus, and because the ticket is tax free, it provides much better value than a cash bonus.
