The Taxsaver Scheme is one of the most cost effective employee benefits available in Ireland.

How Employers Can Provide Taxsaver Tickets

The Taxsaver Scheme is one of the most cost effective employee benefits available in Ireland. It allows employees to save up to 52.2% on the cost of their commute, while employers benefit from reduced payroll costs and stronger sustainability performance.

When you provide a Taxsaver ticket through salary sacrifice your company saves up to 11.25% on Employer PRSI — making this a benefit that delivers value for both your organisation and your employees.

Employer PRSI Savings

When the cost of a Taxsaver ticket is deducted from an employee’s gross salary your Employer PRSI liability is reduced. Below are some examples of typical annual for the savings:

Zone 1 Ticket Price: €960 Employer Saving: €108.00

Zone 2 Ticket Price: €1,400 Employer Saving: €157.50

Zone 3 Ticket Price: €1,960 Employer Saving: €220.50

Zone 4 Ticket Price: €2,352.20 Employer Saving: €264.62

All Services Ticet Price: €4040.00 Employee Savings: €454.50

These savings increase with every participating employee, making Taxsaver a scalable and cost efficient benefit.

1. Salary Sacrifice

Employees agree to reduce their gross salary by the cost of the ticket. This lowers their taxable income and creates immediate savings

  • Fully Revenue compliant
  • No cost to the employer
  • Employer saves up to 11.25% PRSI
  • Employee saves up to 52%

Example: Employee salary: €30,000 Annual ticket: €1,800 New taxable salary: €28,200

2. In Place of a Cash Bonus

Employees may choose to receive a Taxsaver ticket instead of part of their annual bonus.

  • Only the remaining portion of the bonus is taxed
  • Increases the value of the reward for the employee
  • No additional employer cost

Example: Bonus: €2,000 Ticket: €1,800 Taxable bonus remaining: €200

3. Addition to Salary

Employers may choose to fund the ticket as part of a reward, retention or wellbeing initiative.

  • High‑impact, low‑cost benefit
  • Supports sustainability and commuter‑friendly policies
  • Helps reduce on‑site parking demand
