How Taxsaver works?

The Taxsaver scheme is a fantastic way to keep your employees happy, saving them money each month on their commute and freeing up Car Parking spaces!

1. Conditions of Carriage

  • All Taxsaver tickets remain the property of the transport operator.
  • Usage is subject to the operator’s Conditions of Carriage and Customer Charter.

2. General Conditions

    • Tickets are non-transferable. Only the person named on the ticket/card may use it.

    • Tickets cannot be resold or used by anyone else.

    • Tickets must be presented at any time during your journey if requested by an authorised employee.

Failure to Produce a Ticket

•    If you cannot produce a valid ticket, you must purchase a daily ticket before travelling.

•    Refunds for daily tickets bought in these cases will not be granted.

•    If you are onboard a train or arrive at a station without a valid ticket — and boarding facilities were available — you may be issued with a fixed penalty notice.

Replacing Your Leap Card

Customers are advised to register their monthly or annual Leap cards.

Leap Cards can be replaced by logging into your Leap Card Account at www.leapcard.ie.

  1. Select the “Refund or Replace” option.
  2. Choose “Replace” (do not select the refund option).
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your replacement request.
  4. Please confirm with Leap the expected timeframe for replacing your ticket or product.

3. Cancelling Annual Tickets

General Rules

  • Annual refunds are calculated as:
(Original cost ÷ 10 × months used) deducted from the original cost.
  • No refunds are available after 9 months of use.
  • Company Administrators must contact the relevant operator before cancelling a ticket:
  • Iarnród Éireann: credits@irishrail.ie
  • Bus Éireann: taxsaver@buseireann.ie

•   Employer-specific conditions may apply. Always check with your company administrator before
    requesting a refund.

4. Monthly & Annual Ticket Cancellation Deadlines

Monthly Tickets

  • Unused monthly tickets must be cancelled by the 5th of the month.
  • If the ticket is used at any time on or after the 1st of the month, no refund is available.
  • No partial refunds for monthly passes.

 Annual Tickets

  • Cancellation must be made by the 5th of the month, with no usage on or after the 1st.

5. Bus Éireann – Additional Requirements

Returning Physical Tickets

  • Monthly/Annual Point-to-Point Tickets must be returned by the 5th of the month; otherwise that month will be deducted from the refund/credit.

Leap Card Products

  • Your Taxsaver Leap Card may be kept for personal use or for other operators.
  • If you wish to keep the card, your company administrator must request Bus Éireann to block your product—no later than the 5th of the month—or that month will be deducted.

Replacement Tickets

  • No refunds are given for replacement monthly or annual Point-to-Point Tickets that are lost, stolen, or   destroyed.
