What happens if my Annual ticket won’t work in the machines?
Annual and monthly Irish Rail Leap Cards can be replaced by logging into your account on www.leapcard.ie and selecting the “Replace” option.
Bus Éireann-only Leap Cards can also be replaced online by selecting “Refund or Replace” in your Leap Card account. Please ensure you choose “Replace” (not Refund).

How do I collect my Taxsaver renewal / check the product on my card?
You can collect your Taxsaver renewal or check your ticket by:
- Using Irish Rail or LUAS station poles/validators
- Using the Leap Card Top-up app
- Visiting a Post Point agent
What happens if my ticket is lost or stolen?
You can request a replacement by logging into your Leap Card Account at www.leapcard.ie Select “Refund or Replace”, then follow the instructions. Be sure to choose “Replace”.

Can I buy a monthly or annual ticket and then claim the tax back myself from Revenue?
No. All Taxsaver monthly and annual tickets must be purchased by your employer on your behalf in line with Revenue guidelines.
Are Taxsaver tickets transferable?
No. They can only be used by the individual employee for whom they are purchased.
What happens if I leave or am dismissed from my job while my ticket is still valid?
This depends on your employer’s policy. You may be allowed to keep the ticket or be required to return it. Refunds, where applicable, are processed through your employer.
Can I pause or suspend my Taxsaver ticket if I’m working remotely, on maternity leave, or on sick leave?
No. Tickets cannot be paused or suspended. You may need to discuss the option of a refund with your employer.
Can part-time employees avail of the Taxsaver scheme?
Yes, if their employer offers the scheme and purchases the ticket on their behalf. The savings still apply, but the value depends on income and travel patterns.
Can I use my Taxsaver ticket for leisure travel as well as commuting?
Yes. Taxsaver tickets are valid for unlimited travel on the routes and modes of transport they cover.
